Experience Excellence in Cosmetic Dentistry: Orange County’s Premier Provider

1. Introduction

The second part of the introduction explains cosmetic dentistry and why it has grown in recent years. This guide is a product of the recognition of the advancements in dentistry and the need for consumer information. Since the focus of this guide is to assist consumers in making educated decisions, there is also a discussion on how dentistry is transitioning into a consumer-based industry. A consumer-based industry means that providers will be led to the standard of care that patients are willing to accept. This guide is designed to be a tool for prompting that change and raising the standard for dentistry, specifically cosmetic dentistry.

The reader is welcomed to the office of Dr. Adam Piotrowski and Dr. Karmen Tangedahl. A short overview of their practice and why they are considered to be Orange County’s premier provider is given. This includes the experience, advanced education, and teaching background of both doctors.

The introduction provides an overview of cosmetic dentistry in Orange County. This includes information about Orange County and the growth of cosmetic dentistry. The section also includes an explanation of cosmetic dentistry and what a consumer should be looking for in a dentist. At the end of this section, the reader should have a good sense of what cosmetic dentistry is, the importance of selecting the right dentist, and what they can expect to find in this guide.

1.1. Welcome to Orange County’s Premier Provider

We know that the first step towards a beautiful smile begins with selecting a dentist that you can rely on. Your smile is our top priority. Dr. Roth and Dr. Sevilla are dedicated to providing you with personalized care. We take the time to listen and to truly understand your needs and desires. Through this understanding, we are able to provide the best treatment to achieve your optimal dental health. We recognize that patients who are informed about their healthcare have better and more successful outcomes. Communication is highly valued at Elite Dental, and we promise to always be upfront and thorough with the diagnosis and treatment options best for you. This teamwork approach between patient and doctor is what makes Elite Dental the perfect choice for those seeking the highest quality of care.

Upon your first visit to our office, you will notice something different. Our comfort and attention to detail will tell you that this is no ordinary dental office. The Elite Dental team takes your oral health and desire for a beautiful smile seriously. We employ the most modern techniques and technology available and take great pride in our sterilization and cleanliness to ensure a safe and healthy environment.

1.2. Our Commitment to Excellence

There are numerous areas in which we demonstrate our commitment to quality. Often times patients are facing dental problems that have been a recurring issue for many years. A Comprehensive Evaluation will allow us to identify many of the underlying causes to these problems. This Evaluation is done by utilizing models, x-rays and photos to thoroughly examine the teeth, gums, jaw joints and muscles. A treatment plan can then be formulated to address these underlying causes and in turn prevent future dental problems. Oftentimes addressing these problems would require a specialist. Fortunately, our team includes an Oral Surgeon, Orthodontist, Periodontist, and Endodontist. Having a multi-specialty team under one roof allows us to provide our patients with comprehensive care and the convenience of only having to visit one office.

When treating our patients, we commonly hear them say “I am really picky about my dental work.” This statement always puts a smile on our face because the truth is that our doctors are even more picky! We understand that simply being good is not good enough. Goal number one is to always provide care that is a step above the standard. This requires utilizing the best materials, the most current and proven techniques, and only working with the best laboratories. Our doctors will not cut corners because they understand that quality care often times equates to time spent. An abundant amount of time is always scheduled to ensure that our care is never rushed.

From the moment you first call us to the time you complete treatment, we are certain your experience at our office will be better than you have ever encountered at a previous dental office. Your comfort, care, and satisfaction are our priority. We promise you will be greeted with a smile and within minutes you will feel the warmth and genuine concern from our team. Our staff members are well trained, experienced, and highly motivated. We understand the difference one great team member can make in a person’s day, and we pride ourselves in knowing that our team always goes the extra mile to make your visit exceptional.

2. Our Services

Restorative dentistry is concerned with restoring teeth to their original form and function following decay or trauma. A good example is a simple and traditional silver filling. Dentistry has come a long way, and metal fillings are a thing of the past. Now, people are more conscious of the way their teeth look and tooth-colored fillings make it nearly impossible to tell that a tooth has been restored. Dental procedures such as these coincide with cosmetic improvements and can also fall under the category of a smile makeover.

Dentistry by Design’s main goal is to give patients the brightest, strongest smiles possible, and our comprehensive cosmetic and restorative services enable us to do just that. Following a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, Dr. Toor will discuss which options are best for your particular case. We will present you with a personalized treatment plan that will help you better understand our recommendations. From basic tooth whitening to complete smile makeovers, all of our treatments incorporate fundamental oral health. It’s important to note that resin color bonding, often used to fill cavities, can be used effectively to improve the color and shape of front teeth.

2.1. Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening has become a very popular form of cosmetic dentistry. Since the procedure is non-invasive and relatively inexpensive, many patients opt for this as a first step before considering other, more involved treatments. Furthermore, the simplicity of the treatment has made it so that people can effectively whiten their teeth in the comfort of their homes if they wish. However, for the purposes of this essay, I will only be discussing the form of teeth whitening performed in a dental office. This in-office treatment consists of the dentist taking an initial shade of the patient’s teeth, and then the patient is made to sit in a reclined chair for the next hour while a concentrated peroxide solution is painted onto the teeth. During this time, the patient often can watch TV or listen to music, and some offices even have massage services available. After an hour, significant results can be noticed. The peroxide is washed off, and a post-op shade is taken.

2.2. Porcelain Veneers

If a person’s teeth are severely discolored as a result of root canal treatment, stains from drugs such as tetracycline, or excessive fluoride, especially in Orange County, veneers may be the only option to restore the appearance of the smile. If the reason is due to an issue of mal-positioned teeth and bite problems, insurance may cover a portion of the cost for veneers. In this situation, the patient will first go through orthodontic treatment to align the teeth and reconstruct as needed with veneers over the long term. A comprehensive dental examination and treatment discussion will be necessary to come up with a precise plan for this complicated case. Long-term temporomandibular issues with rare cases of severely damaged/disfigured teeth may also be candidates for a full mouth reconstruction with the use of crowns and veneers to restore a more natural appearance of the teeth. Despite any possible clinical reasons for reconstruction, if a person is basically unhappy with the aesthetics of their smile, this is an immediate functional and cosmetic way to make a huge improvement.

Porcelain veneers are thin custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth, changing their color, shape, size, or length. Porcelain veneers are a huge plus for patients who are looking to make slight alterations or for those who want to change the size and shape of their teeth more dramatically. Porcelain dental veneers are individualized, custom-made, handmade pieces of art to enhance the appearance of a patient’s teeth. Often times, if straightening or closing a gap between teeth is necessary but is not wanted by the patient, a more conservative approach of veneers used to create “instant orthodontics” is possible. An ideal smile often begins with straight, white, and evenly shaped teeth. Unfortunately, very few people are blessed with perfection. With modern advances in dental technology and materials, we can allow for the use of more conservative cosmetic options.

2.3. Dental Implants

The most compelling reasons to opt for a dental implant relate to the overall preservation of the mouth. While it may be easier and cheaper to replace a tooth with a fixed bridge, this often results in damage to the neighboring teeth that provide the support for the bridge. Additionally, a bridge may only last five to seven years, but typically much longer with good oral hygiene. Comparatively, studies show that the use of an implant to replace a single missing tooth has a long-term success rate above the 93% range, often surpassing the life of the patient. With the nature of bridges and partial dentures involving replacement of multiple teeth, implant installation is even more advantageous, and when weighed over the duration of a lifetime, may be viewed as a wise investment in oral health.

A dental implant most often takes the form of a small, screw-shaped titanium post that replaces the root-part of a missing tooth. The surgical procedure used to place an implant is actually quite minor and routine, requiring only local anesthesia in most cases. After a short time, the implant post will bond with the bone in a process called osseointegration. This creates a solid foundation for a new tooth, allowing it to be designed and placed to look and function like a natural tooth. Dental implant success is quite high, in the range of 95%. At times, the presence of poor bone quantity and quality, or other challenges in the mouth, the success rate may be slightly lower. In general, the amount and quality of bone is the most significant factor affecting implant success. If an implant needs to be placed where there is not an adequate quantity of bone present, various bone-enhancement techniques can be utilized to increase both the scope and safety of the procedure. In this regard, the Nobel Biocare dental implant system is regarded as the industry gold standard.

When you need to replace missing teeth, it’s often a traumatic experience that involves not only your teeth, but also the loss of the tooth root. Whether you’ve lost teeth due to trauma, periodontal disease, or some other reason, dental implants may well be the best solution for both function and aesthetics.

2.4. Invisalign

The Invisalign treatment begins by taking impressions of your teeth. These impressions are sent to the lab where they make a 3-D model of them. Once the 3-D model has been constructed, the dentist has the ability to move your teeth virtually using the software and show you a visual representation of what to expect throughout the course of the treatment. A new model is made for every 2-week period throughout the treatment. Each aligner is designed to move the teeth just a little bit. The length of the treatment is based on the severity of each case, but averages between 9-15 months. The aligners should be worn daily and removed only when eating or brushing your teeth. Requiring weekly appointments, Invisalign is a great treatment because the patient and the dentist can see the progress that is being made as the size and shape of the aligners change throughout the course of treatment.

Invisalign is a product designed for straightening teeth using a series of custom-made aligners. The aligners are removable and are far less noticeable than traditional braces. Most adults prefer the Invisalign product because it is metal-free and does not cause irritation to the mouth like traditional braces can. The aligners are comfortable and they do not have any metal that can potentially cause mouth abrasions during treatment. Invisalign is also a great option for patients who have had braces in the past and have since seen their teeth shift. Invisalign can effectively realign these teeth.

3.1. Dr. Smith – Leading Cosmetic Dentist

At the heart of all good cosmetic dentistry is the clinician who drives treatment outcomes. Dr. Smith is very much a visionary within the scope of what is achievable. His interest in surgical dentistry built here, completing part 1 of his MFDS with the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians in Glasgow. Following several years in general dental practice, Dr. Smith developed a keen interest in implantology and oral surgery. He gained his fellowship diploma with the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2003. He has since undertaken numerous postgraduate studies with renowned implant clinicians across Europe. His studies have taken him to clinics in Germany, Italy, and Sweden. However, it was the F.O.R.C.E. course with P-I Branemark clinic in Switzerland that was most influential in Dr. Smith’s philosophy on implant dentistry.

4. State-of-the-Art Facilities

Elite Dentistry is synonymous with state-of-the-art facilities, latest advancements, and unsurpassed patient comfort. Our practice incorporates the finest dental equipment, facilities, and procedures available, playing a major role in distinguishing us. Advanced dental technology can significantly increase the speed of your treatment and allows us to perform highly detailed and precise work. This is something that can be a great benefit to the most apprehensive patient. Some of the technical advancements we have implemented in our surgery include intra-oral cameras and digital x-rays. These systems provide a more thorough examination of your mouth; they also allow easier storage and retrieval of information. We also use an air abrasion system for tiny holes in teeth. This is virtually pain-free and can, in some cases, remove the need for anesthetic. Utilizing lasers and new-age white filling materials, we can perform restorations that save as much of your healthy tooth as possible. Our advanced tooth whitening procedures use a special light activation method and can be tailored to individual patients’ needs. If you require a crown, we provide CEREC porcelain crowns, which can be made and fitted in one visit, saving time and providing a high-quality and aesthetically pleasing restoration. Another exciting new treatment method that will soon be available in our surgery is the use of ozone to treat tooth decay. Ozone is more conservative than traditional methods; it kills bacteria and aids the remineralization of teeth without the need for injections and drilling. We aim to utilize the resources of the practice and by continuing ongoing studies provide access to even newer technologies and procedures as they become available. The high point of our facilities is our new surgery building, which was completed in autumn 2012. Building a new surgery was a great undertaking and commitment to improving our practice and standards. The new facility was meticulously planned and constructed specifically to meet the needs of our practice and patients. It includes 5 large surgeries, a sterilization room and laboratory, and a separate recovery room, the design of which is far superior to conventional dental surgeries. The building is full of natural light, has heat recovery air conditioning for temperature control, and is equipped with disabled access and facilities. Building the new surgery has created a more comfortable and compliant work environment for our staff and allows us to provide our patients with quality dentistry in a modern and relaxing environment.

4.1. Cutting-Edge Technology

Modern technology has revolutionized the dental field, enabling cosmetic dentists to utilize advanced equipment to ensure the highest level of quality care for their patients. Traditional dental x-rays have been replaced with digital imaging, allowing for more precise images to be taken in a significantly shorter amount of time. The patient is exposed to much less radiation, as well as having the ability to view the results of the x-ray instantaneously. The Cosmetic Imaging Software allows the patient to play an active role in the design of their treatment plan. By using a digital photograph of the patient’s existing smile, a desired smile can be simulated and accurately represented. This allows the patient to better understand their treatment options as well as visualize the end result. Digital photography also documents the patient’s case and serves as a valuable communication tool between the dentist and the ceramist. This is essential for the more complex cases that involve a combination of cosmetic and restorative dentistry.

4.2. Comfortable and Relaxing Environment

Our patients can’t believe they actually get to listen to music or watch DVDs during their appointment, right in the comfort of their big dental chair. “Forget the shades, it’s the only time of my day I get to watch Judge Judy,” recommends Lisa, an Irvine patient of Dr. Jeremy B. Jorgenson. “I pass the headphones over to my daughter, we even let her pick the movie.” A little R&R goes a long way for dental anxiety, and a parent’s sanity. We know your life is probably about making your kids happy – during your appointment, we help you do that!

Cozy armchairs, soft blankets, and a warm, crackling fire in the fireplace. Sound like a setting from your local luxury hotel? Think again – this is the ‘standard operating room environment’ at Advanced Dental Arts. Feel like you are surrounded by luxury, where comfort is the root of the dental experience.

5. Patient Testimonials

Real stories of satisfied patients. The best way to understand what it’s like being a patient of Dr. Cross is to listen to the rich and varied experiences of people who have undergone smile makeovers. Not only are they reflections of patients’ personal views, they also reflect Dr. Cross’s philosophy that all treatment plans should be carefully tailored to suit each individual’s needs and desires. We don’t aim to make everyone’s teeth bright white Hollywood style, we try to create the smile that the patient has always wanted. A conscious effort to incorporate health and function with aesthetics is also evident from the fact that many patients say they wish they had sought treatment earlier. (Click ‘Show more stories’ at the bottom of the page to see how these stories are changing people’s lives). Before and after photos. See detailed before and after photos of specific treatments in the answers for each individual question.

5.1. Real Stories of Satisfied Patients

“Many of my actor friends were getting cosmetic work done on their teeth,” explains portrait photographer Gabor. “Because of the type of work I do, my photos are blown up very big. I noticed more and more that my stained and chipped teeth were taking away from the quality of my work.” Gabor absolutely loves his new front crowns with their new shape and color. “They made me look and feel 20 years younger,” he tells us.

“I have had 3 dentists in the last three years,” states Marilyn, a patient of Dr. Aminlou. “I hated the fact that something kept going wrong. They had no excuses, and I paid full price for two horrible crowns!” Marilyn’s husband is a dental technician who has over the years observed the quality of dental work deteriorate. “Dr. Aminlou’s work comes the closest to what I have seen from the best.” Finally, Marilyn has found a dentist she can trust at Aesthetic and General Dentistry.

There are patients with stories that inspire others. They act as role models and lead by example. Above are quotes and stories from just a few of our many satisfied patients.

5.2. Before and After Photos

Seeing is believing! When it comes to dental work, many people assume that cost equals quality. Dr. Cadle and his team are out to prove that assumption false. The smile gallery on his site features people from all walks of life who needed a variety of dental work. No names are used and no one is identified. Dr. Cadle believes in ensuring people’s privacy and these are the images of people who he has worked on since opening his practice in Irvine in 1985. These are photographs of models whom Dr. Cadle hired to take before and after pictures to illustrate the kind of work he has done and can do for others. These photos are only of work that was done by Dr. Cadle and no one else. Cost conscious patients are impressed to see the type of work that can be achieved in one visit and thus correcting several problems at once. This can be less expensive than doing it over time and will achieve an overall better result. The smile gallery features people that needed work such as regular maintenance, replacing old and worn out dentistry, periodontal therapy, adult orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry. Some patients say that they didn’t know how bad their teeth looked until they saw the before pictures. Many people are in need of routine maintenance to achieve a healthy smile and be free of any disease in the mouth. Others are tired of dental problems interfering with their day to day life and opt for a better result and improved quality of life at an affordable pace. Seeing before and after pictures similar to their situation helps them to make an informed and intelligent decision.

6.1. Accepted Insurance Providers

Dr. Henry and his staff at OC Lifesmiles realize the importance of being able to provide quality dental care and access to their office. This means being accessible to patients who can afford dental insurance, and patients who cannot. OC Lifesmiles accepts most insurance providers, and will be the preferred provider for medical and dental insurance company Aetna. Being in network with most insurance providers means more of the costs are covered. This means less out of pocket expenses and less cost for you. If you are not sure if we are in network with your insurance provider, we will be happy to guide you by calling our office at ***-***-****. When you call, please have your insurance card on hand and be prepared to provide the necessary information to verify your eligibility. For those who do not have dental insurance or whose provider is not in network, Dr. Henry’s office staff will still be able to provide you with insurance information to help verify your dental coverage and help process your dental claims. A typical dental insurance plan allows for two dental check-ups and cleanings a year. These services are usually covered at ***-***, meaning you pay little to nothing out of pocket. All other dental work is typically covered at ***-**% after the deductible is met. Any dental work at OC Lifesmiles, whether it be cosmetic or necessary, is also covered in this same range. So, patients can expect typical coverage rates for any dental services rendered at our office.

6.2. Flexible Payment Plans

We understand that not everyone has the same budget for dental treatment and that you may have out-of-pocket expenses for which you will need financing. That is why we offer a variety of payment options as well as third-party financing. For your convenience, we accept cash, personal checks, and credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Card). We also offer in-house, no-interest financing. This offers special interest-free terms and can be applied to any of our services, allowing you to complete your treatment without having to use your credit cards. If you would like to apply for third-party financing, we are providers for Capital One, Chase Healthcare Advantage, and CareCredit. These companies offer a full range of payment plans to help you finance your dental treatment and break down the amount into affordable monthly payments. The application process is fast and simple, and you are usually approved in a very short time. Once approved, you will be able to use your credit line at Cosmeticare for services and products not covered by your insurance.

7. Schedule Your Appointment

Experience Excellence in Cosmetic Dentistry: Orange County’s Premier Provider contains various sections to enhance your visit. Section 7 focuses on how to schedule an appointment. A convenient, hassle-free process to schedule an appointment at South OC Dental, Irvine, CA is set in place for our patients. Our dental office caters to individuals with busy, fast-paced lives and we understand how valuable your time is. We have ensured the scheduling process is available to our patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We offer our patients the benefit to schedule an appointment online or contact our office directly. This gives our patients the flexibility and freedom to choose the method that best suits their personal schedule. Whether you book an appointment online or contact our dental office, we have a friendly staff member ready to assist you at any time, providing helpful information and answering any questions you may have. We place significant emphasis on patient satisfaction and are dedicated to providing more ease and convenience in every step of the dental process at our office.

7.1. Convenient Online Booking

Booking an appointment online ensures that members have priority and simplification of appointment scheduling. Our system recognizes if you are a new or existing member and allows time slots for each specific type of appointment. For new members needing a full examination, the Hygiene Department will allow an hour and a half appointment slot so that the dentist has quality time to complete a comprehensive exam and at the same appointment the hygienist will have sufficient time to complete a thorough cleaning allowing the flexibility to move or add scaling and root planning for those who need it into the same appointment. Existing members who have already had an exam will have appointment options of just an hour for a routine quality check with exam and cleaning or possibly an hour and a half if the patient needs to complete treatment diagnosed at exam such as a filling or crown. This ensures that no patient will feel rushed out of an appointment and there is always adequate time to complete desired treatment. This system eliminates the problem of double booking appointments and ensures priority and preparation of upcoming appointments for the day. As well these time slots are displayed on a real-time basis so that you will not be able to book an appointment when the office is not open and another common yet irritating occurrence using other reservation systems, your selected time slot will not overbook and will always be available, this ensures that you will never be double booked or moved from an original time of appointment. We have also taken consideration of certain treatment procedures that may be performed in a different room of the office. If a patient is scheduling a hygiene appointment and has extra treatment such as a filling scheduled in the same day the system in the hygiene room will have an option to check extra time and display the patient’s full schedule to allow room changes and preparation for the next appointment.

7.2. Contact Information
